Brendan Plaine and his girlfriend took part in a project in a Navaho Indian Reservation in Huerfano, New Mexico.
This was the second time I have been to the USA; I have experienced living in the desert now. It was amazing out there, the thunder storms are so powerful, and you can see for miles. At one time we were at a sacred mountain and saw a large thunderstorm on the horizon; this is amazing as you see the flashes everywhere. We ran back to the base camp, about a mile or mile and a half.
I and my partner built many structures at base camp, from benches to tables to full shelters. Charlie liked our work and wanted us to stay. We wanted to stay. I would love to go back again.
It was very hot and some of the team members got affected by the heat. Around 3pm everyday it was very hard to do anything because of the heat. On one occasion we resurfaced and rebuilt a washed away dirt road, this was in no mans land. We were hundreds of Cierny Balog 2002
